You get up on a stage. Bring out a glass of water.
Then you tell the audience that you are going to demonstrate the taste of water to them. You take a sip. Smile and gush about how wonderful water is.
Thereafter, you bow and conclude your demo.
The above is how I feel about trying to do a public demonstration of Tai Chi Chuan. This is why when I was asked again this year to take part in the upcoming martial arts demonstration in a community centre in the west side of Singapore in the third quarter of the year I had to decline.
How do you demonstrate what the taste of water is like short of asking each member of the audience to take a sip? I guess you can’t. This is why doing a public demo of Tai Chi is out for me.
